Great Time to Check Your Email

Rule #1 for reading your NSFW email forwards at work: make sure a live tv camera is not looking over your shoulder. Evidently this cubicle jockey at Macquarie Bank in Australia forgot about the evening news report happening just behind him as he proceeded to check out a few models in his inbox. As you can see, they were not economic models:

Golden Nugget Las Vegas to Open New Rush Tower Friday

Spectacular, contemporary luxury and elegance will soon embrace guests of the highly anticipated Rush Tower, the newest addition to the legendary Golden Nugget Las Vegas. Scheduled to open on Nov. 20, 2009, the $150-million development will enhance the historic property’s already unrivaled hotel, gaming and dining options, and firmly establish the resort as the preferred destination on the Fremont Street Experience, located in the heart of downtown Las Vegas.

“Rush Tower will now define the ultimate Las Vegas experience providing exceptional accommodations as well as add to the already supreme dining opportunities and exceed the unparalleled customer service already delivered to our guests,” said Tilman Fertitta, Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Landry’s Restaurants, Inc., which owns the property. “The tower is the latest in our ongoing renovation and expansion projects at the Golden Nugget, which now total more than $300-million, and which will certainly up the ante for other properties in Las Vegas.”

Guests arriving at Rush Tower will immediately be taken back by the impressive porté cochere which is accented by a new, million dollar landscaped entrance at First Street and Carson Street. As visitors enter the spacious lobby, they will be captivated by the posh furnishings and brilliant, custom-designed lighting which combine to create an inviting and sophisticated ambiance.  Guests will then be greeted by the distinctive, floating reservation desk offering private check-in service for Rush Tower with a magnificent 75,000-gallon tropical aquarium fish tank as its backdrop.

After check-in, guests will be escorted to one of the tower’s more than 500 well-appointed guestrooms.  The guestrooms are 20 percent larger than the Golden Nugget’s current North and South standard rooms and offer exceptional room selections for any occasion. The tower also includes four Penthouse Suites and 70 Junior Corner Suites, which provide incredible views of the Las Vegas Strip or of the famous Golden Nugget pool. Guestrooms are furnished with contemporary and sleek décor and complemented by stylish and fiery hues. Standard features include upgraded pillow-top mattresses, feather down comforters and 42-inch plasma televisions.

Since “man cannot live by bread alone,” Rush Tower entices guests with a superb dining option with the inclusion of the Chart House Aquarium Restaurant.  The restaurant will feature a new custom-designed menu offering signature Chart House dishes as well as numerous specialty items unique to the Golden Nugget location. The spacious dining area, designed with modern furnishings and rich colors inspired by the sea, will seat approximately 200. A 75,000-gallon tropical aquarium filled with more than 1,000 colorful and exotic fish will be the centerpiece of the restaurant with a view from the lobby.

During their stay, guests can take full advantage of the warm Las Vegas sun as they relax and enjoy a refreshing cocktail by the tower’s two-level, infinity-edge pool. Surrounded by six plush cabanas and covered lounging areas, complete with day beds, this pool area creates the perfect desert oasis. The pool adjoins the third floor of The Tank, a year round outdoor swimming pool complete with 200,000-gallon, live shark aquarium, which was voted one of the “Top Ten Pools in the World” by Forbes Traveler.

Guests will enjoy the convenience of the casino located in the lobby of Rush Tower, which expands the Golden Nugget’s dynamic gaming features by adding popular slot and video poker machines as well as more table games. A new, upscale retail complex will round out the offerings and will include d’Oro fine watches and jewelry, high-end apparel by Nineteen Forty-Six Boutique, tantalizing desserts and confections at the Chocolate Box, and The Signature Shoppe providing unique souvenirs of the iconic property.

According to Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman, “The debut of the new tower will not only add to the excitement of the area but will establish Landry’s Restaurants as a leader in the redevelopment of downtown Las Vegas.”

The Golden Nugget is currently taking reservations for Rush Tower. For more information on the Golden Nugget, or to book a stay, visit www.goldennugget.com or call (800) 634-3454.

CityCenter’s New Website Brings Las Vegas’ Latest Destination to Life

An evolutionary destination designed to transform Las Vegas at its core, CityCenter will be unveiled to the world this December. Yet now, weeks before the groundbreaking project opens its doors to the public, people everywhere can sample some of the energy and sophistication of CityCenter without ever leaving their chairs. Just launched, CityCenter’s new Web site, www.citycenter.com, takes visitors on an interactive cinematic journey, allowing them to discover virtually why CityCenter is destined to forever change the face of the Las Vegas Strip.

CityCenter is an unparalleled urban development brought to life by eight world-renowned architects. Much more than a collection of resorts and residences in the center of the Las Vegas Strip, CityCenter will be a community – a welcoming environment for people to gather, relax and enjoy. Great pedestrian corridors, dynamic public spaces, authentic richness and diversity of experiences will evoke the energy of the world’s most exciting places. Highly innovative and inviting, CityCenter’s newly launched site epitomizes the very essence of this extraordinary resort destination.

“Through cutting-edge technology, this new site provides the best online experience for our guests,” said Bobby Baldwin, CityCenter’s president and CEO. “Travelers planning a trip to Las Vegas can visit the site and within moments understand why CityCenter will be the destination of choice on the Las Vegas Strip.”

From the moment visitors enter the site they have the opportunity to craft their own journey. Just as within CityCenter itself, intrigue awaits around every corner, enticing guests to delve deeper into the project, learning and experiencing along the way. Moving the mouse over the various resort images makes options come alive, while the click of a button pulls viewers into CityCenter via cinematic flythroughs. Full-motion 3-D video treats visitors to a compelling visual tour, providing the sensation of actually being in the center of the city.

“The quality of CityCenter, with its range of amenities, the acclaim of those who helped bring it to life and the ambitious cultural and ecological accomplishments demanded an unconventional approach,” said John Schadler, managing partner of SK+G, the Web site’s designer.

Once stopped on the image of a particular resort, a simple click provides users with general information, a link to the hotel’s individual Web site, and additional options, including a video exploration highlighting the unique character of each resort and the amenities available.

Functional layouts make navigation user-friendly, with no need to back-button click to continue exploration. Dedicated links take visitors to information regarding CityCenter’s unprecedented public Fine Art Collection and the award-winning architects behind the project. Also easily accessible via a dedicated link are details on the development’s commitment to sustainability. Upon opening, CityCenter will be one of the world’s largest green developments, having already earned several Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold certifications.

A unique directory allows users to search by category – from dining and spa to entertainment, accommodations and shopping – to discover more about the vast array of offerings available throughout the destination and help guests plan their visit in advance.

With the same ease, visitors looking to simply book their vacation at a CityCenter resort get immediate access to reservations from every page of the site.

“In developing this Web site, we focused on establishing an immersive, first-person perspective that puts the entire collection of CityCenter’s brands at the visitor’s fingertips,” Schadler said. “We utilized full-motion 3-D elements as the basis of navigation to draw visitors in while providing an enhanced sense of both scale and detail. The goal is to intrigue guests by giving them a quick taste of the CityCenter experience and its rich list of offerings.”
