Who to take next after John Wall in the 2010 NBA Draft?

e8e6b9a7dajack 11 Who to take next after John Wall in the 2010 NBA Draft?Oh yes, it’s this Thursday.

The 2010 NBA Draft is this Thursday and the great amount of talent and depth this year could make the NBA Draft surprising and unpredictable.

We all know John Wall SHOULD go no.1 overall. After he gets drafted, everybody else can either go no.2. On that note, here are just some of the bright young talents out there who can make an impact for any NBA team once the season gets going again.

First we have Evan Turner, a 6-7 junior swingman from Ohio State. The scout who is skeptical of Wall believes Turner should be ranked as his peer. “Wall and Turner are Nos. 1 and 1a. Turner is going to be an All-Star. I have great faith in that. His size, his approach, his style of game — all are suited to the pros.”

He’s like Oscar Robertson. He can have that type of impact. Oscar wasn’t a guy people worried about when he went behind the pick and launched the bomb — you almost preferred him to do that — and that’s how it is with Turner.”

Next we have Wesley Johnson, the 6-7 junior forward from Syracuse. “Wesley Johnson has been the surprise of the year,” one scout said. “He has a lot going for him — size, skills — and he’s the reason behind Syracuse’s 18-1 season. He has the potential to be very special, and I’m told he has a good basketball mind. At the end of the day, he can be a 20-point scorer, a good rebounder and a passer.”

“He’s probably the best athlete in the draft,” a team executive…

Cavs vs. Bulls, Game 5

CAVS vs. CHICAGO BULLS
at Quicken Loans Arena
Tonight at 8
Game 5 of Eastern Conference first-round playoffs
(Cavs lead best-of-seven series, 3-1)
TV: TNT, Fox Sports Ohio, WUAB
RADIO: WTAM

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: The Cavs have an opportunity to close out the Bulls tonight. Expect that to happen.

Teams don’t want to prolong the series. If the Cavs win tonight, they’d probably be off until Sunday for Game 1 of the East semifinals. Boston can also close out the Miami Heat tonight.

Bulls guard Derrick Rose had an MRI on his left ankle on Monday. He’ll play, but he might not be as explosive. No one will know until the teams get out on the court.

Forward Luol Deng, who’s had to defend LeBron James in the series, is also not 100 percent. He’s is suffering from calf and knee injuries. He was held out of practice on Monday, along with Rose.

The 6-9 Deng has made James work, but the latter is averaging 35 points, 9.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists. That’s not bad in the Painesville rec league, no less the NBA.

The Cavs have made an average of 11 3-pointers in the first four games of the series in 26 attempts. GM Danny Ferry has surrounded James with 3-point shooters in Mo Williams, Anthony Parker, Jamario Moon and others. When they are on their game, they are unbeatable.

LBJ’S SHOT: LeBron James’ 40-some foot shot against the Bulls wasn’t a heave. It was a regular shot from just over midcourt.

* * *
BANGO STUNT: OK, I don’t usually get too excited about mascot’s stunts. But this one by Bucks mascot, Bango, is crazy.

STARTING LINEUPS
SF LeBron James (6-8, 250) vs. Luol Deng (6-9, 220)
PF Antawn Jamison (6-9, 235) vs. Taj Gibson (6-9, 225)
C Shaquille O’Neal (7-1, 325) vs. Joakim Noah (6-11, 232)
SG Anthony P! arker (6 -6, 210) vs. Kirk Hinrich (6-3, 190)

e8e6b9a7dajack 11 Boise State Broncos V TCU Horned Frogs in Fiesta BowlThe BCS Bowl season continues.

And this time, we have the 2010 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl for you. This one features two undefeated teams in their respective conferences as the Boise State Broncos go up against the TCU Horned Frogs at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Both the Boise State Broncos and the TCU Horned Frogs finished with unblemished records to win their respective conferences. Boise State finished 13-0 to win the WAC title while TCU finished 12-0 to win the Mountain West Conference.

5e4f24013doncos6 Boise State Broncos V TCU Horned Frogs in Fiesta BowlThe Boise State Broncos and the TCU Horned Frogs have only met twice with both meetings occurring in big BCS bowl games. They collided last season in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl with the Horned Frogs winning an exciting 17-16 decision then. Boise State prevailed 34-31 in their first meeting on December 23, 2003 in the Plains Capital Fort Worth Bowl on TCU’s home turf.

For the past 10 years, the Broncos boast a 121-20 composite record for a .858 winning percentage that leads the nation over that span. The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl will be Boise State’s 10th bowl appearance and second BCS appearance in the past four seasons.

Las Vegas Casinos Looking Forward to New Year’s Eve to Make Up for 2009 Revenue Decline

The economic crisis in the U.S. hit 2009 harder than any other year in the past 50 years, so it comes as no surprise that many people will have a reason to celebrate this Thursday when it finally comes to an end. One of the industries hit hardest by the economic crisis was the gambling industry, therefore Las Vegas casinos are looking forward to this day to make up for a huge revenue decline.

Las Vegas has always been the “place to be” on New Year’s Eve with huge concerts, elaborate parties and great entertainment, but this year Vegas casinos are looking to bring in people who would not normally come to Las Vegas for New Year’s Eve.

“New Year’s Eve is a time in Nevada when the casinos make up for some of their lost revenue from the holiday season,” said gaming analyst Steve Schwartz, “This year, the parties will not be as big, but they will still bring in more people than a normal weekend would throughout the year.”

Las Vegas casinos are hoping that the influx of New Year’s Eve visitors will bring with them money to gamble and hopefully boost revenue at the close of 2009. Both Vegas and Atlantic City, the two biggest gambling destinations in the U.S., have seen revenue declines in the double digits for most of 2009, so this increase in business for New Year’s will be most welcomed.

Oregon Ducks V Ohio State Buckeyes in 2010 Rose Bowl

e8e6b9a7dajack 116 Oregon Ducks V Ohio State Buckeyes in 2010 Rose BowlThe irresistible force meets the immovable object.

No, it’s not Hulk Hogan versus Andre the Giant all over again but the 2010 Rose Bowl. Oregon’s irresistible running game, averaging 236 yards per contest, takes on Ohio State’s immovable defense that has only given up a measly 83.7 yards to the opposing team.

Well, something’s got to give and this Rose Bowl game between the Oregon Ducks and the Ohio State Buckeyes could very well decide which is really important in winning championships, defense or offense?

ohio_state_buckeyesThe Ohio State Buckeyes have always been the better team every single time they went up against Oregon. The Buckeyes have been so dominant that they haven’t been defeated by any Oregon Ducks team for seven straight contests.

Yes, Ohio State is 7-0 all-time against Oregon, which makes betting on the Ducks at the Rose Bowl a little bit harder to fathom.

Of course, if you’re a Ducks fan, you’d be happy to know that these two teams haven’t played each other since 1987 and a lot of improvements have been made by the Ducks since then. Oregon now has a formidable running game that ranks sixth overall in the nation and as good as that offense has been, their defense isn’t so bad either.

Oregon has only surrendered 329 yards per game, which ranks…
