Which NFL team will LaDainian Tomlinson play for next?

seth-edward-oneal.jpgI’m hoping the Patriots will have the balls to go ahead and sign this dude.

The 2010 NFL football season is shaping up to be an interesting one to say the least with two of the league’s biggest and longest tenured running backs parting ways with their respective teams.

The releases of LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook have set off a firestorm of rumors and speculation about where the two backs might end up next season. Both still have a little something left in the tank, so it’s just a matter of finding the right team for their skill sets.

As far as LaDainian Tomlinson is concerned, he limits his prospective employment to teams capable of winning the Super Bowl. He has reduced his options to a very small field. And then he’s 3d1da94a5einson1 Which NFL team will LaDainian Tomlinson play for next?going to have to take a very modest contract, given his performance level in 2009 (730 rushing yards, 3.3 per carry, 20 catches) for a very good team.

There is a reasonably good chance no Super Bowl contender will offer Tomlinson, 30, that chance. But history says that Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots might, or Mike Shanahan in Washington could. This is not to say the Redskins are a Super Bowl contender.

It appears that unless Tomlinson is willing to join a team like the Cincinnati Bengals or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his best chance to reach the Super Bowl still might be through San Diego. And he just cashed out there.

One good fit for Tomlinson are the New Orleans Saints…

Eagles – Cowboys rematch in the 2010 NFC Wild Card

seth-edward-oneal.jpgCan the Cowboys beat a very good NFC East rival for the second straight week?

That is what the Dallas Cowboys need to do if they have hopes of reaching the divisional round of the 2010 NFL playoffs.

The Dallas Cowboys already held the Philadelphia Eagles scoreless in their last meeting last Sunday. Yes, the Eagles were outplayed in just about every phase of the game in Sunday’s 24-0 loss to the Cowboys that cost them a first-round bye and the NFC East title.

The Philadelphia Eagles offense was shut out for the first time since 2005 and their defense couldn’t get off the field against a Cowboys team that piled up 474 total yards, including 179 on the ground.

cb7db3b8dfowboys Eagles – Cowboys rematch in the 2010 NFC Wild Card”They played better than we played,” Eagles coach Andy Reid said. ”They coached better than we coached. You get back to business and you do it in a very matter-of-fact way. If you get caught up in all the what ifs and this and that, then you’re making a mistake.”

”We don’t have time for that. It’s a hurried-up week and you have to get right back on the horse and figure out how to not get bucked off again.”

Can the Cowboys beat Donovan McNabb and the rest of the Eagles for the second straight week? Well, if you’re a Cowboys fan, you would be happy to know that the Eagles lost both regular-season meetings with the Cowboys. The first one, a 20-16 defeat in early November, was considerably closer than Sunday’s rout.

History isn’t on the Eagles’ side either, since 1970…

Can Eli Manning save Giants on Monday Night Football?

e8e6b9a7dajack 115 Can Eli Manning save Giants on Monday Night Football?Well, Tom Coughlin certainly hopes so.

At 7-6, the New York Giants are on the brink of missing the playoffs after such a strong start to the 2009 NFL football season a few months ago.

Yes, it looks like the Dallas Cowboys are not the only team having their fair share of problems this December as we witnessed the New York Giants squander away all the momentum they’ve generated during the early parts of the season.

Once lording over the NFC East, Eli Manning and the rest of the Giants now find themselves sitting third behind the struggling Cowboys. Their remaining three games are huge if they want to clinch that wild card playoff spot. A loss could very well be the killer to their hopes of a run at the Super Bowl.

eli_manningOn Monday Night Football, they have the Washington Redskins in the first of three must-win games for the Giants. After this NFC East rivalry, the Giants have the Carolina Panthers before heading to the Metrodome to face the red hot Minnesota Vikings.

Yup, it doesn’t look too good for the Giants right now. But if there’s that one guy who can help the Giants make that final push for the postseason, it’s Eli Manning. Sure, he can be inconsistent at times but the fact of the matter is, the guy can make plays when it counts the most.

Just ask the Patriots after Eli led the Giants to win…

The Dallas Cowboys can sure use the new ‘Wrong Way’ warning signs put up on the Dallas North Tollway

The Dallas Cowboys can sure use the new ‘Wrong Way’ warning signs put up on the Dallas North TollwayBecause that’s exactly where they’re headed again in December, THE WRONG WAY.

After posting the best record in the NFC East this 2009 NFL football season, the Dallas Cowboys welcomed December the way they welcomed the month last season and the season before that, losing.

Yes, the Dallas Cowboys are struggling again in December, dropping the first two games of the month to relinquish the division lead to Philadelphia and possibly their hopes of a playoff spot. And since six new ”wrong way” signs were placed along the Dallas North Tollway as part of an effort to prevent more deaths and injuries from motorists going in the wrong direction, maybe somebody needs to put up one more inside the Cowboys locker room.

Well, at least Tony Romo and the rest of the Cowboys are consistent. They have always struggled during the month of December and with the teams these guys would have to play in the next three weeks, I’m not expecting ”America’s team” to finally put an end to what is turning out to be their very own ”Holiday curse.”

dallas_cowboysNext weekend, the Cowboys travel to the Superdome to face the undefeated New Orleans Saints. The Saints are just on a different level this season and I don’t see the Cowboys coming up with an upset in New Orleans.

After that, these ‘Boys will go back on the road again, this time to visit the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field. The Redskins are finally playing good football, probably because they know they don’t have anywhere to go now but up. They don’t have anything to lose at this point of the season and taking the Cowboys down with them to finish the year will just be too sweet to resist.

Then finally, the Cowboys end the regular season with…

The Kansas City Chiefs release Larry Johnson (The dude probably won’t be posting anything on Twitter now…)

The Kansas City Chiefs release Larry Johnson (The dude probably won’t be posting anything on Twitter now…)People from Kansas City saw this one coming a mile away.

To say that the Kansas City Chiefs are having a campaign to forget this 2009 NFL football season could be an understatement. After earning their first win of the season when they beat the Washington Redskins two weeks ago, they are once again losing games. These guys are currently on a two-game losing skid and I don’t see anything that could change the Chiefs’ fortunes for the immediate future.

Of course, that won’t stop the Kansas City Chiefs from making some moves. And they may have made the biggest one yet. You see, the Chiefs have finally let franchise running back Larry Johnson go and for the first time in the Pro Bowler’s career, he’s no longer welcome in Kansas.

larry_johnsonAfter seven years playing in Kansas City, Larry Johnson was finally released by the Chiefs on the same day that he was due back from his second suspension in the past 12 months. Is this just a matter of the Chiefs getting rid of excess baggage or is Kansas City letting go of a solid running back who still has a few good years left in him?

The rest of the NFL thinks the latter.

Teams like the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans have already expressed their desire of signing a player of Johnson’s caliber as soon as they learned that the Chiefs have finally released him. Will we see a deal…
